Back in 2019 we filled 12 x 100 litre French Oak fortified casks, the core of our French Oak line. This is the very best and last bottling of that. 4.5 Years old, the final 12 months spent in American Oak. The French oak barrel was a Portuguese Tawny port barrique, re-coopered down to 100 litres.
Nicks Wine Store were so impressed with this whisky they used it for a private bottling, the first time with an Australian whisky distillery. Whisky and Alement also used this as the ‘20’ portion of their Kinglake 80/20 release.
Dark and rich with hints of smoke and fruit with a huge oily finish.
The smallest special we’ve released so far but it was too good not to share. Once this is gone, it brings a close to this original French Oak Line.
