The signature wine of a classic Victorian winery. Only the best grapes are reserved for the MAXIMUS label and its release is limited to the yields of the best years. I want to insert some witty word play here, but this wine is no laughing matter, just pure Pinot perfection.  

What to expect:

This wine is luscious and thick with a deep mouthfeel but has outstanding retention of acidity and freshness. Distinctive earthy and sappy complexity showcases the purity of the terroir. Long and complex, this will age well. The wine's terrific stony lift on the finish gives it nice definition.

Behind the scenes:

John & Jennifer Nagorcka’s family vineyard (20 acres) is part of a larger integrated Demeter certified mixed Biodynamic farm of 700 acres. The vineyard is close planted at 5,000-6000 vines/Ha on a North facing slope, 250m above sea level near Tarrington in southwest Victoria.

All fruit is vinified without any additions using natural yeast. Most whites see extended skin contact and are pressed mid ferment. Reds are fermented in open vats with regular manual plunging and long post ferment maceration. Whites are aged over winter in large format oak barrels then assembled in summer for bottling. Reds are left undisturbed in small mainly old french oak for 15 months then racked once prior to assembly for bottling. All wines are bottled unfiltered under gravity.
