Purely Cosmetic is a modern West Coast IPA dry-hopped with Simcoe Cryo, El Dorado, Chinook, Citra, and Centennial. Straight out of the gate we have some absolutely classic westy vibes. White peach, grapefruit, orange blossom, citrus rind, pine and resin dominate the nose, all vying for pole position in the aroma. The palate begins similarly before it gives way to some apricot marmalade, orange juice (the good kind that hits different when you’re a little dusty), then a little mango and pineapple to add a slight tropical element in the finish. Everything is rounded out with a cheek smacking bitterness that coats the mouth. Despite the big hit, it remains highly drinkable. The only thing that’s purely cosmetic about it is the name. Everything else is the real deal.
