A modern Australian blend. It’s meaty and spicey yet still light on it’s feet showing savoury red and black fruit alongside immensely pleasing tannins

The Shizangio is our newest wine and one we hope to continue making into the future. A classic Australian grape in Shiraz and a future classic in Sangiovese come together in this instance to make a blend that has some real potential in the Australian wine landscape in our opinion. This wine is multiregional; with Shiraz grape from Mudgee, Orange and the Hilltops and Sangiovese from Mudgee and Hilltops. There’s a combination of different maceration techniques from whole bunch to whole berry to extended maceration and carbonic. A good amount of the wine for the Shizangio was fermented and matured in one of our concrete tanks and the rest was held in old barrels up until bottling in January without any fining, filtration and a light addition of sulphur.

There’s black cherries and blackberries on the nose- it’s smokey, herbal and spicey suggesting meat just off the barbecue. On the palate it’s showing oodles of black pepper, red sour cherry, bay leaf and olive tapenade. Good tannin structure with enough power and tightness to give it a good ability to age.
